1 September Les Eyziers to Sarlat

09.30 lined up for tickets to the caves

10.00 - 11.15 visited the Prehistoric History Museum - very impressive & Jane B finally got to see a deer on the way into the Museum.
You'll be pleased to know the Janes were very culturally sensitive when doing their Prehistoric Abbey Road thing in the Museum...

We met 'Les Roches' at the museum, Jane B was quite taken with him... "I love it when he has on his listening face, he loves to listen to my stories and about all my friends problems...."

11.30 back to the Font du Gaume caves with the amazing Roger as tour guide & the Janes were blown away by the 3D prehistoric rock paintings. We came out seeing the world in a different way - we were lucky enough to get tickets which are limited cos a group was a no-show that day.  These caves are the only caves in the world that are open to the public where these type of paintings can be viewed.

1.30 headed off for our 59km ride to Sarlat over the hills & far away. Hard, hot work, but a beautiful ride passed a fortified abbey, long river roads, villages set into rock (troglydites), yet more of the self proclaimed most beautiful villages (which really are beautiful) & a storm brewing by time we arrived at duck - I mean dusk (we had had a bit of Foie Gras by then).

9pm Celebrated with coffee & cake in Sarlat's cool square for dinner just as it started to thunder & rain - but the brunt of the storm hit elsewhere we're pleased to stay.

Jane B & M's favourite day so far. Full of epic memories.
