  4. Actually the last leg of your tour sounds very similar to the last leg of our tour last year!! We stayed at Brig for 3 nights (the old town part is great!) and caught the train from ....I forget.. a little town in Italy starting with T.... through to Brig - so the opposite way to you but the same scenery :-). Can't wait to compare photos!!

  5. I'm Kesta and I want to make a comment. I'm not an anonymous person. I have a personality and I'm happy for people to know who I am. This is mighty frustrating.

  18. Hi Derek & co, yes, you successfully blogged! My holidays have started at Seal Beach, California - cycling training is a 5 minute ride along the foreshore to coffee & cake each day & catching up with my godson, my good friend & their family. Food: calory-loading has a mexican theme, macca's theme & cake theme.... yuuuuummmmyyyyy

  20. Dear Jane M

Fiona here again, hope you're having a great time in the US. How was your day in LA?

I'm doing my piece to keep your cycling buddy in top top shape for Europe. Yesterday I took her to 8000 feet for altitude training in Big Bear California and we cycled down - great for her red cell count! She's also been doing hyperbaric oxygenation treatments with Jax. I can't take too much more of the carbo loading though! Phew - this cycling training is intense!

    Love to all

    Fiona

Phew, it sounds like a punishing training schedule you are on Jane B! Hope it is all worth it!!

  22. Yes, me too! I bought a water bottle at Big Bear Lake at the cycle shop & noticed it had the cheery message of "Pain is weakness leaving your body" - I'm not sure I even want to know what that means!?! I'm going for a surf at Seal Beach, California tomorrow, for something totally different - the good thing about all the calory loading is - at least I'll float well!

  24. Hiya Janey,

I found your blog! Your trip sounds fantastic. Glad to hear the preparations are going well - I can vouch for the long-term effects of carb loading (aka coffee and cake) - we got on the scales here 6kg heavier :-(

    Love you!

PS I signed in with my gmail but not sure why it thinks my name is Eng teacher. At least you know who it is! <3

  34. Actually, Kesta said: Did you get time to look around Avignon before you set off? And to sing the song on the bridge? When we were there the summer festival was in full swing with loads of street performers & a great holiday/party atmosphere. We also loved Saint-Remy. (Just had to get the map out to see exactly where you're going on this leg - and reminisce about our trip in 2007!). Enjoy! It's a beautiful part of France!
